I wonder if anyone has had experience using digital cameras for recording
artifacts or museum specimens. As a Collections Manager with no darkroom
facilities I find that the cost and other problems of black and white
photography pushing me toward alternatives (other than color photos
processed at the discount store). The new low priced digital cameras are
tantalizing but its not clear from the literature I have seen what problems
there might be with depth of field from fixed focus lenses. Nor do I
understand how much memory each stored digital image takes. And is it
possible to compact such files?
Any comments from about these or other issues will be appreciated.
