++++++++++ CALL FOR PAPERS +++++++++++
ASSEMBLAGE, the new Sheffield Graduate Journal of Archaeology, is
seeking contributions for its first issue, due to hit email, the Web,
and departments near you in autumn 1996. ASSEMBLAGE'S mandate is to
produce a publication primarily by graduate students, for graduate
students, and thereby to encourage first-time authors to publish,
provide a forum for the discussion of new ideas, spread information
useful to graduate students, and entertain or otherwise relieve the
tedium of the endless cycle of work. We seek:
1. substantive, formal articles: 1500 - 3000 words in length, on any
archaeological topic, likely to stimulate debate. These will be
subject to full peer review procedures before being accepted for
publication.
2. columns and features: 500 - 1000 words in length, on any
archaeological topic, to inform, to amuse, or both. These could
include interviews, Observations from a Hole in the Ground, Notes
and Queries, book reviews, conference reviews, film or music
reviews, poetry, short stories, photographs, artwork, letters to the
editors, whatever your heart desires! Shake off the fetters of
academic style and be free!
Interested? Please submit an abstract (c. 100 words) or idea to us
as soon as possible. The deadline for completed substantive articles
is 24th May 1996, and the deadline for columns and features in 28th
June 1996.
