Several people have asked for information on how to search the archives of
HISTARCH. Here is a copy of the template that I have used (from a note that I
sent a few days ago). It does work since I just did a search for posts on
black light in the archives.

Subject: Database search template

  Sara,
This is the template I use for searching the list archives. Be sure to
send the commands to the LISTSERV, not the list. The best time to do a search
is late evening, when the Net is not too busy. You will get the results, but
they may take anywhere from a few mninutes to several hours.
The search line can be changed to reflect different dates and other
keywords. You might want to use the term privy in the singular.
Do include all the // and * that I show.
