I, too, had a similar reaction to M. Landon, though I wouldn't have stated it
as such.  In the ceramically-challenged Northeast, its sorta funny that the
recovery of a pot is (now) such a rarity that we don't even know how to do it.
Its also useful to keep in mind that, despite the theoretical and
methodological revolutions of the past 20, 30, 50 years, we still dig up our
stuff the old fashioned way--one shovelful at a time.
