There are two other sources I would suggest about Ayllon. First, there
is a collection of essays on the subject, edited by Jeannine Cook,
called _Columbus and the Land of Ayllon: The Exploration and Settlement
of the Southeast_ (Darien, GA: Lower Altamaha Historical Society-Ayllon,
1992). For a copy, the order form in the back of the book gives the
following address and price: Ayllon Committee, P.O. Box 1526, Valdosta,
GA 31332; $8.50 per copy plus $2.50 for postage and handling. The essays
are quite good and are by people like Louis De Vorsey, Paul Hoffman, and
David Hurst Thomas.
The other suggestion is the short section in David Weber's _The Spanish
Frontier in North America_ (New Haven: Yale UP, 1992). While it is only
three pages or so long, its notes are an excellent source for more
suggestions to find printed works on the subject.
Hope this helps.
