INTERNET ARCHAEOLOGY
Announcing the foundation of Internet Archaeology, an international electronic
journal for archaeology. The first issue will be published in August 1996 and I
am calling for papers which will demonstrate the potential of electronic
publication. If you have a possible paper which would fit the following criteria
please contact me to discuss it.
Papers must be:
1) of interest to a world-wide audience (as much Historical Archaeology is)
2) able to make use of the facilities of electronic publication, such as:
a) hypertext links from one part of the paper to another
b) the ability to call on data or supplementary information
throughout the paper.
c) colour illustration possible throughout (very useful for artefact
catalogues)
d) the ability to use intelligent maps and diagrams to allow access
to different parts of the report or underlying data
3) of lasting value. We want Internet Archaeology papers to be available on the
Web (or its successor) as long as they are of use. We will publish updates and
addenda to papers to help them keep their value but the paper itself will remain
unaltered, so that it can be referred to.
