During the summer of 1993 Preservation Technologies excavated a black
owned pharmacy, (44RN256), in the heart of downtown Roanoke, Virginia. This
pharmacy was owned by Dr. Isaac Burrell and was in operation from
1897-1917/1918. The excavations unearthed a vast multitude of pharmaceutical
bottles revealing many medicines that Dr. Burrell sold. We would like to write
a comparative analysis to that of a white owned pharmacy of the same time
period. The only problem is we have no knowledge of a white owned pharmacy
that has been, or is, being excavated. If anyone out in the vast world of
archaeology has any knowledge of this elusive pharmacy excavation please
