Dear Robert,
  Thank you for your note.  Unfortunately, my father and my
grandfather had a parting of the ways many years ago, and I know very
little about that part of my family history.  All I know is it's a
German name and I think they were from northern Germany.  There are a
few Sauers in this area, not all that uncommon, but in Germany it's
apparently as common as Smith here.  Thanks for asking, sorry I can't
help - I'm not aware of any relatives in Ohio.
