I trying to compile references on excvations at Homestead sites in
Mountainous environments. I am representing the Ozark (and Roger
Coleman the Ouachita) on a committee of the Arkansas Professional
Archaeologists Association to work on developing context and
significance guidelines for these types of sites. Our 2 forests have
recorded thousands of these in the last 5 years. By Roger's best
guess, only 32 of these have received ANY sort of subsurface
investigations (not counting shovel tests for determination of site
boundaries). Any references or photocopied articles would be
appreciated. Thank You.
