    I have two hives which are definitely way out in the country in South
    Carolina.  I too have noticed the proprolis is a bit like gum
    (stringy).  Apparently, the reason for the gum likeness here is the
    heat because you can remove it from the hive and take it indoors and it
    will become hard and brittle.  Its color is light brown.  Just removed
    a bunch yesterday.
