Isn't there also a "PC" version now of the Crayolas? They got rid of the
peach-colored one that was labled "Flesh", I remember (Berke Breathed did a
cartoon on it).
Whatever is used as a standard must be easily available to everyone. We used
the Munsell soil colors in England at Wharram Percy, and I thought it was a
bit silly since the soil was recorded when it was damp. When it dried out, it
usually changed color.
I plan to check on the Embroidery color chart and the Pantone chart. Both
sound good for describing the colors of the decorations on maiolica. "Cobalt
blue" doesn't seem to make it anymore.
