I know you said you are running software on the MacIntosh (of which I
know nothing of), but I did want to tell you of a possible way to export
your data to Surfer, as I am using it in my thesis. First of all, I am
using Dbase on an IBM clone to organize my data. Then, I have to turn it
into a text file (.txt) with X, Y, Z coordinates and fourth field for the
symbols representing artifact types (e.g.). THEN, I have to rename the
file as a data file (.dat). Now, I've heard that if you can turn a file
into a postscript file (after you convert your file to a text file), its
compatible with any computer system. Also, ArcInfo is a GIS system that
produces data layers. I hope this info helps!
