Anita,
Well, admittedly I haven't read that much of Randy McGuire's. However,
he has an article about cemeteries in Leone & Potter's Recovery of
Meaning--isn't that historical archaeology? Also, I believe he has
a similar article in The Archaeology of Inequality (which he co-edited).
That book has several historical archaeology articles.
Based on the above information, he has at least done some historical
archaeology fairly recently. As these are the only things I've read
by him, I thought he was a historical archaeologist. I never claimed
he was the god of historical archaeology, nor did I ever claim that
all the comments I made were verified facts! I was just stating what
I remembered, some of it very vaguely, from my grad school search.
