As a result of last summers fires the Tahoe National Forest will soon
be seeking Archaeologists to assist in an inventory and documentation
of sites within the remaining 6000 acres in the fire and evaluation
(excavation) 97 sites in rehab project areas. Sites types known to
exist within the area represent short term but repeated use of the
area by several Native American groups, linear features, habitation
and work camps associated with the logging industry, cord wood
cutters, grazing and homesteading. A variety of groups have used the
area, but Northern Maidu, Washoe and their predecessors, Chinese,
Basque, Swiss Italian presence is most abundant. The Tahoe NF is
planning to hire 1 crew for the inventory and site documentation &
mulitple crews to excavate & assess the historic era industrial
complexes & task area sites, and the lithic deposits. We are seeking
folks who qualify as GS 193-9 (Project Field Directors), GS 193 or
102-7 (Crew Leaders) amd 193 or 102-5's & 4's as crew menbers. For
