Dr. Christina Wahl, who made a valiant attempt to raise the bar on rigor in biology here on Bee-L has hives in the path of the totality.

I will ask her to post whatever she sees/films/photographs, but bee behavior is well-known during total eclipses - they, like most all animals, react as if nightfall was approaching.
Their internal diurnal clocks be dammed, when they see the dimming due to the blocking of the sun, they prepare for nightfall.

I'm going up to see the totality, but I'm leaving the bees at home.

The best zoomable map of the totality zone I could find is here. Note that any other map is likely a little under a mile "too wide" on the "zone of totality", as most people forgot to take into account that the accepted diameter of the sun was updated recently, and the terrain of the moon AND the earth both have to be factored in, as we are talking about a shadow here. But the zone is over 100 miles wide, so get towards the CENTER of the zone.

This one is very likely a "Last Chance" for an easy viewing for older east-coast beekeepers - attached is a handy reference for the next chances to see a totality... 2033, 2044, 2045, 2052, 2078....
