Years ago, I was down in NYC visiting small gardens where people had hives. One person asked me what things I gave to my bees. Nothing, I said. You don't take a lot of supplements, do you? I asked. Of course I do, was the reply. End of conversation.
I have always believed that proper nutrition precludes the necessity for vitamins, supplements, etc. both in myself and my bees. I understand that people think they need to "do more." It's a psychological thing not borne out by fact.
I don't feed my bees supplements because I trust they will get what they need. The exception would be to prevent starvation. of course. I understand people that are trying to maximize profit will spend a lot of money on feed, supplements, etc. I find that my method of caring for bees produces very large honey crops and a reasonable rate of survival in the long term. Your mileage may vary.
