I just received word that Kim Flottum passed away this morning. He was
diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, and  was going to start treatments.

Kim Flottum was a well-known figure in the field of beekeeping. Kim was
member of this list, ocasionally offering his wisdom.

I first knew him as editor of Gleanings.  I wrote a number of articles
for him in the early 2000's when he was Bee Culture editor, as did
others on this list.  We met at various meetings, including EAS

In addtion to his long time work as editor and columnist, he was the
author of a number of books on beekeeping.  He was also a co-host and
producer of the Beekeeping Today Podcast.

He contributed greatly to the beekeeping community and he will be missed.
