I got a dead link, so I couldn't read the article.  Was this based on spore count or active pathology?  qPCR hits can reveal the level of particles, but the results must be interpreted based on the machine cycles required to detect the particles- the CT number. This brings up the next issue, the particles may not even be infectious.  To take this kind of action on spore count would be unusual. 

After I learned about the intentional spread of AFB as part of the Manuka wars among competing beekeepers,  I'm suspicious that occurrences like this, if true, are part of that whole mess.
