As you know, you're hardly the only one who has noticed that!
In our own selective breeding program, we identify some colonies which
exhibit no mite buildup, but may not be strong or productive.
So despite appearing to be resistant, they don't make grade as breeders.
The resistant colonies that we breed from were often the strongest and most
productive in whatever outyard that they were in.
