"I am aware of two contemporary studies that haveevaluated the genetic make-up of feral ...."
In spite of the claims neither of these studies tell us a thing about the genetic diversity of the studied ferals versus domestics.  These authors only looked at an estimated 0.003% of the DNA in a bee.  If you believe what these authors claimed you also believe that chimps, gorillas and humans are all the same species because they share exactly the same sequence in numerous places that amount to far greater than a miserably small 0.003% of the genome.  The only thing these studies tell us is some ferals have an unbroken female line going back a lot of years and such female lines going back to those same ancestors do not exist in domestics.  This is exactly the result you would expect to get before you even started the study if you understand genetics. It would be incredibly unlikely to get any other result.  If the reviewers had done a competent job neither of these studies would have been published with the totally unproven and ridiculous claims that were made.
