Many beekeepers prefer to graft from older, dark comb for a variety of reasons.  However, if given a choice, do queens prefer to lay in newer, light colored comb, or older, dark colored comb?

Furthermore, is there a quality difference for queens produced in newer versus older comb?  I seem to remember some research on this, but at UM I do not access to the diversity of bee-related holdings that Cornell has.   Jerry
