Peter>I am amazed that you all seem to be more worried about what the bees are doing than in your own health!<
That's not necessarily true, In my town, Missoula, MT, we get daily updates regarding particulate levels in the air, with alerts when the levels get high enough that one should stay inside.
Until a few years ago, fire season consisted of sporadic periods of smoke, usually short. Over the past few years, fire season starts now and may continue through August. There's a haze in the air right now.
We take our own health seriously, but with daily tracking of particulate levels and alerts, its easy to calibrate the conditions to bee behavior.
We got into this problem, not only due to Climate Change, but also to over-the-top, Smokey Bear, putting out every fire. That lead to huge buildups of fuel biomass. It also tended to allow meadows to be overgrown by trees. We're now learning the downside of interferring with nature.
