Yes, when used in the conventional sense of the word, anarchy = chaos. But in the actual meaning of the word, it simply means without a leader, which describes eusocial insect colonies exactly.
I wonder why nobody quarrels with the term "eusocial" but some folks balk at the notion of "superorganism." These are just words to describe what we are observing. If the word's meaning changes over time then perhaps it no longer serves the purpose.
Things exist, no matter what we call them, to quarrel over definitions is unproductive. I think it's clear that self organizing groups of animals are fascinating and how they do it is not necessarily obvious.
Anyone who has watched the swirling sweeping flight of starlings—finds it compelling, no matter what the explanation.
