I think it will be challenging to find "American chestnut" seedlings or saplings although, in pockets, they are not quite wiped out. There are other cultivars. Here are some varieties for sampling (am not promoting this particular vendor, though):

I am not sure if the surviving American chestnut trees have overcome the blight disease by now or not, but if there are, they will be invaluable, indeed. And I am hopeful.
