A truly feral, unmanaged colony must be a very rare thing these days, certainly in most of the UK.

Recently Paul Honigmann gave a presentation on feral Colonies he has located in his Oxfordshire village. Interesting stuff. It is near the top of the Resources page.

I believe the term 'Free Living' was coined by  Dr. Grace McCormack's team and was picked-up by Roger Patterson and BIBBA.

FWIW, Roger's presentation at the 2017 National Honey Show is well worth the investment IMHO.
