More specifically, he explained that there were a lot of mites on 2-3 day
old drones.
And that for using drones to estimate the mite infestation level of a
colony, that you'd need to carefully pick out newly-emerged drones.  But
newly-emerged drones aren't the same as 2-3 day old drones.
I'd be cautious about stretching these findings too far.
But it does perhaps help to explain the rate of increase in mite
infestation that some of us observe in August, that I've been unable to
explain by either mite reproduction or mite immigration.  The math just
didn't work.
