> I was continually frustrated with the amount of suds that was generated with the Dawn detergent.
The solution to your problem is a spray bottle with perhaps 10% vinegar to water. It will eliminate all the suds. Use whatever soap you like.
I learned trick because I indulged myself with a small washing machine in my first sailboat. The water for the wash came from a seawater distillation rig, and distilled water is so soft, the suds were overwhelming, and would not rinse out. But I saved the tank water (filled at port calls) for drinking, as a still failure might have me unknowingly drinking 2% to 5% saltwater, not good.
Wiser sailors than me use wash-dry-fold services that pick up and deliver, but I was circumnavigating, so I had some long stretches of open water to cross, allowing time to do housekeeping.
