I was just telling someone yesterday that, in 27 years as a beekeeper, one of the few things I've learned for certain is that there is no "normal" year.
Here in eastern Missouri the last several years have given us later winters and colder/wetter springs, and when things finally open up everything seems to bloom at once. The primary nectar flow has stretched into mid-to-late July whereas we were accustomed to it being done by end of June. We've had excellent honey crops three years in a row, even though summer/fall drought has taken away our fall surplus.
