>Consider the human abnormality face blindness. Prosopagnosia is a neurological disorder characterized by the inability to recognize faces; it's also known as face blindness or facial agnosia.
In both the book and the presentation that bears the same name, Dr. Chittka describes how the same techniques used to diagnose prosopagnosia in humans are what were used to assign facial recognition capabilities in bees.
Similarly for the optimism / pessimism evaluations- the techniques utilized to determine whether vertebrates are able to choose optimistic or pessimistic outlooks on prospects are the same which were deployed to determine whether bees had the ability to look at the glass half full versus half empty.
