A while back a visiting post-doc asked me why there wasn't anything named after her at Cornell. I said there is: the McClintock shed. It's full of garden tools. He justifiably thought that was even worse than nothing. While it is true she got a Nobel Prize, she was 81 by then. She wrote in 1973:
> Over the years I have found that it is difficult if not impossible to bring to consciousness of another person the nature of his tacit assumptions when, by some special experiences, I have been made aware of them.
