Looking for some thoughts on the brood disease in the attached photos. Is
this sac brood? If not what is it?
Stock is pretty hygienic overall, generally 85% or better on FKB. Turned
up last season, didn't respond to antibiotics but did mostly clean up when
there was a good flow. The best colonies can keep it down to just a
spotty brood pattern or just one or two visible cells. Colonies mostly
winter okay with it, but it's still there in the spring. There is a mix of
dead/diseased larvae in different stages but generally white coloured(see
photos), accompanied by the more classic sacbrood pointed slipper shape in
various stages of capping. Also often accompanied are slightly off-white
drone brood. Brood pattern is typically spotty, but can also be pretty
solid with just one or two slipper type cells
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Adam
