That should have been: the only _arbiter_ of "truth" is a consensus of qualified individuals. Of course, with the caveat that anyone can be wrong and it doesn't matter how many people sign on to an error, it's still an error. 

Therefore I always apply as much thought and consideration to the evaluation of scientific material. I retain many doubts about so-called "cosmological constants." I remain open to the complete refutation of any scientific "truths" if they prove to be invalid for whatever reason. 

I think we should all be humble in view of the fact that what we think we know is so small in comparison to what we can never know. I expect to go to my grave with many questions unanswered.
