We are advised to clean woodenware by scorching, but other methods are immersion in paraffin wax at 150ºC or irradiation.
Polystyrene hives can be scraped as clean as possible then immersed in 1:5 bleach solution for 20 minutes.
Interestingly, woodenware is scorched by the bee inspector, poly is left for the beekeeper to deal with!
I assume that plastic foundation could be treated with bleach, or even immersion in wax if it will withstand 150ºC.
I remember an article in Bee World many years ago that showed that pressure washing removed more bacteria than any other method.
