Same here on the rust collection, the study was based on feed ratios of 20:1 (Pollen:Fungal Spore) vs a 100% fungal spore diet. Like everything, it is important to have a balanced diet. I use pollen patties where the pollen has been irradiated to prevent disease transmission. What is natural pollens incidental fungal ratios? Do the bees have foragers dedicated to fungal spore collection?

The attached photo is where the bees seem to mix in foraging for fungal spores (small ratio to pollen loads) July to early August and then becomes dominant as the natural pollen sources die out (mid August on). I never really though about it until I read the study. Are they part of the bees natural diet in moderation of course?
