> Even as I made a living as a commercial beekeeper I have wondered about feeding sugars to bees from an economic, social, and environmental perspective. My question is this: Is commercial bulk honey of any greater value to society than the sugar?

Value, of course, is not intrinsic. We assign value to things. The question really is: Do people value honey more than sugar? Evidently, they do. Honey sells for $8 a pound or more retail. Sugar, about 75 cents.
