> And similarly, are multiple eggs in cells never the result of a
new, overeager queen?
This is a common occurrence with a vigorous queen that has recently begun
laying eggs in a small colony, when there simply aren't enough prepared
cells available for her vigorous egg production. They may lay a dozen eggs
in a cell. Also not uncommon to see a vigorous queen futilely searching
for a cell as an egg emerges from her abdomen.
