But I still think the regional 
contrasts exist.  

Completely agree,  we have HUGE regional differences here due to climate.  Guys in the north like MN  may get by with one treatment a year,  while the guys in FL treat 4 times.

This is based on the math of mite propagation related to brood volume.  So those with 3-4 brood/ swarm cycles a year will have drastically different issues than say Canadians with one major cycle boom.

I don’t know anything about the SA variations,  but can guess many of the same issues of various levels of mites closely related to how often they are without food/ brood.   Is there as big a variation down in climate and brood cycles?
