Allow me to add a word to the recent post below:

Ah, the great tragedy of Science — the slaying of a beautiful hypothesis by
an ugly fact.
But that doesn't mean that Ruth Rosin could completely discount von
Frisch's findings.
Clearly, bee foraging is not dependent upon only a single sense, it's not
solely one or the other.
von Frisch's findings have been well-replicated. But that does not
discount the importance of olfaction.
I was recently discussing swarm navigation of African Bees with Dr. Orley
(Chip) Taylor. His experiments and observations clearly pointed out that
olfaction could override everything else.
