This paper describes some of the methodologies and goals of trying to
use beneficial bacteria from the bee microbiome to stop or decrease the
symptoms of EFB, which were discussed earlier. In this case, there was
no detectable effect.

We provided some samples for their gene blasts from a pretty intense
infection in untreated colonies in the spring/early summer of 2018. It
appears to recur at the same time each year (no treatment). Have a
hypothesis that it may reside inactive in some older comb in single
"feed" supers above double deeps that the bees end up "climbing" to in
the early spring and expanding their brood to those infectious areas.
Some of the comb is currently in boxes labelled old dark comb which has
been offered to science, but no takers yet. For now we are attempting
to slide excluders in before brood production moves into those older
combs in active colonies.
