I don't think so. The usual recommendation for intensive orchard pollination is one hive per acre, which is probably more than enough for that. A less densely planted area would be adequately covered by one hive. The thing is, they only forage on what they like. I have a four acre property and I seldom see honey bees on any of the plants despite having from 10-15 hives here. Most of the plantings in my yard are visited by non-Apis bees, flies, etc. The honey bees tend to leave the property in search of better pickins.
