One of the big steps in becoming a real beekeeper is transcending the ideas  presented in basic courses and the literature and realizing that bees are very complex and quite intelligent and that beekeeping is not just a top-down relationship.  There is a conversation involved.

 Some things are fairly predictable but others are unique and bound to surprise.  You can read all the books, watch all the videos, take all the courses, and have a hundred hives but if you cannot read bees, you are only halfway there.

I wonder where jerry is these days.  He has lots of good stories.
