Years ago, we had a copycat try to convince the DoD Joint Chiefs that they could replicate our proven success with conditioning bees to detect landmines and IEDs.  For some reason, for the demo, the built hives with plexiglass sides.  The demo occurred in Yuma, Arizona.   The demo failed, in part because during the demo, the sun directly shining on the plexiglass sides caused the comb to melt and flow out the bottom entrance slot.
