Some colonies with incipient or advanced stages of the "new" EFB, and
with strong hygienic activity develop clear shotgun brood patterns. It
is easy to miss unless one looks carefully at the few cells remaining
with signs of the disease. The spottiness can get pretty dramatic and
colonies start going down even during optimal times unless they get
treated.
