There may be technical obstacles

I think the big obstacle is scaling up. The company did a trial of sterile mosquitos in Brazil. Their test plot was 200 acres. A neighborhood of about 1/3 square mile. For this they used batches of 250,000 treated larvae. I know these babies are tiny but for large scale they are going to need to be able to raise trillions of mosquitoes
