Hi all,

Just a caveat, all this talk about queen supersedure is based upon the desire to understand the biology of it. I am pretty sure commercial beekeepers have demonstrated that it is more cost effective to run colonies with young queens throughout than to depend on nature to keep the hives in uniformly good shape. On the other hand, I am looking at a staggeringly large honey crop from knotweed/goldenrod. The hives have almost filled 5 mediums each (over two deeps). More than that's too tall.
