I just read some long articles about the "Demaree method" from 100 years back. It appears that Mr. Demaree wrote about a lot of different plans and also a lot of other people described what is still called "the Demaree method."
I think it boils down to making a split on the same stand using an excluder (or two, if you have extras). You can call it what you like, it's just a way to ease congestion in the brood nest.
Most beekeepers would sooner take the brood and bees and use it to boost weak hives or make nucs to sell. If done properly, this increases the amount of bees produced in the long run and practically eliminates swarming, which is the point.
