What is your take on queen/worker development? As they state in The Dark Side, "The queen is a completely different organism from a worker, not just bigger."
Wheeler and Huxley characterized the worker as a stunted form but when you think about it, the workers have everything that honey bees need except the capacity to get inseminated. The queen has nearly none of the things required to make a colony except swollen ovaries and various secretions.
