I often hear in garden publications about pine needle mulch being acidic.
I live in an area in which large portions of the forest floor are naturally
covered with a deep mulch of pine needles, which slowly decomposes into a
dark, rich compost.
However, when I've tested that compost with pH paper, it is not acidic.
Has anyone on the List checked to confirm that the pine needle mulch in
their area is actually acidic?
