I used to change sneakers at lunchtime, as by then, socks and sneakers would
be soaked through. I still have 4 old pairs of Adidas Supernovas that are
my beekeeping sneakers, as they dry out faster than anything, and you can
replace the arch-support cushions easily. I am sure that nearly every
beekeeper with more than a handful of hives has made themselves sick once or
twice from heat.
The best thing about "urban beekeeping" is that one extracts and bottles in
state-food-inspected commercial kitchens (I use a Hotel's banquet and pastry
kitchen), and these kitchens are air conditioned. Luxury.
