I am thinking about the implications that in some localities swarms may be far more frequent "blessings" than other localities. If the frequency of swarms in an area can be taken as an indication of density of colonies in the locality, then is it reasonable to infer that there is a positive correlation with probability of reinfestation of mites in that area? A consequence may be that following a simple mite testing and treatment plan in an area of high swarms may need to be adjusted to take into account that community of mites is greater than just those within ones own apiary. Is this incorrect? or obvious? I have not read about using the frequency of swarms in an area to change testing strategies?
